This year marks Mid American's 90th anniversary - nearly a century of serving Kansans and their communities. We've made steady growth in the decades since, merging with smaller credit unions in communities outside of Wichita to keep those services available and expanding opportunities for other groups to join as members. Plans are underway to celebrate this huge milestone throughout 2026!

2026 marks Mid American’s 90th anniversary – nearly a century of serving Kansans and their communities.From humble beginnings to serving thousands—Mid American Credit Union was founded in 1936 to support credit union employees and volunteers when they couldn’t borrow from their own institutions. As laws changed, so did we. In 1979, we became Mid American Credit Union, expanding membership across Kansas and beyond. Today, we’re a full-service financial institution with over $500M in assets. Our vision remains the same: Exceeding members’ expectations every day.
Through growth, change, and several mergers along the way, one thing has stayed the same—our commitment to you. Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to the past, present, and many more years ahead!

Taking it back to Easter 1998 at Mid American Credit Union!
Members were greeted with pastel decorations, baskets full of goodies, and plenty of smiles to go around. It was a day all about community, connection, and a little springtime fun.
It’s amazing to see how much has changed over the years—but one thing has stayed the same: our commitment to serving our members like family.
